This is probably old news to most of you but it has been officially announced this month that Citrix is opening a new office in Santa Clara, California. The press release is included here:

Citrix to Open New Silicon Valley Headquarters in Santa Clara

Local Dignitaries to Join Citrix Systems CEO Mark Templeton for Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony as Billion Dollar High-tech Leader Expands Presence in Bay Area

Santa Clara, CA — 3/7/2007 — What: Billion dollar high-tech leader Citrix Systems, Inc., headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will be celebrating its substantial expansion into the California Bay Area today when president and CEO Mark Templeton joins Santa Clara Vice Mayor Will Kennedy and other local dignitaries for an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the company’s new Silicon Valley building in Santa Clara. Citrix Systems has become one of the most successful companies in the technology industry with more than 180,000 enterprise customers worldwide. Citrix has invested nearly $.5B in the Silicon Valley through several strategic acquisitions in the past three years, helping it quickly grow to $1B in worldwide revenues and now establish a new regional headquarters in Santa Clara. Its application delivery infrastructure products are used by 98 percent of the Fortune Global 500 to deliver mission-critical business applications over the network to end users around the world with the best performance, highest security and lowest cost. The company’s growing Silicon Valley presence is part of a broader plan to continue expanding its presence in the Bay Area, tapping into the region’s world-class talent pool. Please join us as Mark Templeton addresses his vision for Citrix and its future growth in the Bay Area.

What I can share with you that is new is a great picture of the building by Lee Laborczfalvi (a co-worker) that took pictures on his recent visit to the new office.

Citrix Santa Clara Office
The office is expected to contain the workers of companies that Citrix has acquired in the area. I do not have a definitive list but I would expect the former employees of Netscaler and Orbital Data would be working here at a minimum. The real message is that Citrix now has a central office in the Silicon Valley in hopes of participating in the local computing environment. My theory is that they are seeing if it is any easier to find talent in Silicon Valley compared to South Florida.Looks like a great office and also looks like the right move to make.
